Fox News’ Kat Timpf got life-changing news just hours before meeting her baby.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer 15 hours before giving birth.
Timpf shared the shocking timeline in an “unconventional birth announcement” on social media.
“Last week, I welcomed my first child into the world. About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” she wrote on X.
She reassured her followers. “Now, before you worry, my doctor says it’s Stage 0 and is confident that it almost certainly hasn’t spread. Or, as I’ve explained to the few people I’ve managed to tell about it so far: Don’t freak out. It’s just, like, a LITTLE bit of cancer.”
The day was anything but normal. She woke up overdue and focused on getting the baby out. By afternoon, she was at appointments planning to remove her cancer.
Doctors recommended a double mastectomy. She listened, asked questions, and even joked about putting a tumor ultrasound next to her baby’s on the fridge.
By night, labor hit. She crawled on the floor before heading to the hospital. Hours later, she welcomed her baby boy.
Timpf praised the hospital staff for their ability to handle dark humor.
“Just minutes after my boy was born, I was talking with the nurses about what a birth announcement in my situation might look like,” she wrote.
She joked about saying, “Mom and baby are doing well, except maybe for mom’s cancer, and then maybe the baby after breastfeeding is stunted by her double mastectomy.”
Maternity leave won’t look how she imagined. She’s adjusting to motherhood and cancer at the same time.
“Still, as I navigate new motherhood (and new cancer) I’m learning to celebrate everything I can,” she wrote.
She’s grateful. The cancer was caught early. She gets to be her son’s mom. “I know I’m biased, but the little dude absolutely rules — and not just because he might have saved my life.”
Support flooded in from fans and colleagues.
“We’re all here for you Kat!” Greg Gutfeld posted.
“Praying for you and your family, Kat. Sending you lots of love!” Kayleigh McEnany added.
