Jon Stewart stunned his “Daily Show” audience Monday. He slammed a mug in frustration, cutting his hand on live TV. Blood dripped as he continued his monologue, targeting Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
He smashed the mug while discussing drug prices. It was meant for dramatic effect but turned into a real mess. He quickly hid his injured hand under the desk but couldn’t conceal the bleeding.
“I’ll be going to the hospital soon,” he joked. Then, he pushed on, accusing the Trump administration of “DOGE-ing in the wrong place.”
The audience gasped as they noticed the blood. Stewart waved his fingers on the desk, making it more visible.
“It’s fine!” he reassured them.
Before the accident, he criticized DOGE’s reports on government waste. He challenged claims that Social Security wasn’t paying “dead people.” He argued Americans misunderstand where the real waste is.
“How about we just take the $3 billion in subsidies we give to oil and gas companies that already turned billions in profits?” he asked.
He slammed corporate loopholes and defense contractors. Then, he mocked the Biden administration for celebrating price cuts on just 10 drugs.
“Ten is all of them, right?” he said sarcastically. “It would be embarrassing if it was a small drop in the bucket and Americans didn’t expect we should negotiate for all their fucking drugs.”
Then, the mug shattered. The rant didn’t stop. He turned back to DOGE, saying the agency was missing the real waste—corporate subsidies.
“Why do we, the taxpayers, subsidize their psychopathy?” he asked. “That’s the waste, fraud, and abuse we should be going after.”
He called for real government efficiency—cutting useless agencies and auditing the Pentagon. “But we are DOGE-ing in the wrong place,” he insisted.
It’s unclear if Stewart needed medical treatment.
