Charlamagne Rips Democrats: ‘No Moral High Ground’

Radio host Charlamagne Tha God declared Monday that Democrats no longer have moral superiority over Republicans. His comment came after President Joe Biden pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, on Sunday.

The pardon followed months of Biden promising not to interfere in Hunter’s legal issues. A Delaware jury had convicted Hunter of illegally possessing a firearm while being a drug addict and making false statements on a gun purchase form. Charlamagne, speaking on “The Breakfast Club,” criticized Biden’s claim that Hunter was “singled out.”

“Hunter was singled out because he broke the law. That’s number one,” Charlamagne said. “He had an illegal gun and tax evasion charges, not because he was the president’s son. And I honestly don’t care.”

He continued, “I just want Democrats to stop acting like they’re on this moral high ground politically when they’ve shown us they’re not. Whether it’s skipping the primary process or Biden pardoning his son, stop pretending y’all are the pure party while Republicans aren’t.”

Charlamagne added that the move revealed how much elected officials can get away with. “They can do whatever they want as long as they have the political will and courage to do it,” he said.

President Biden’s statement defending the pardon claimed Hunter was unfairly targeted due to their family connection. “No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son,” Biden wrote.

Biden also said there had been an effort to “break Hunter.” “In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me. Enough is enough,” the president stated.

Initially, Hunter planned to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and enter a diversion program for the gun charge to avoid jail time. But the deal fell apart in July when District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika raised concerns about an immunity provision in the agreement.
