New details have been coming out recently regarding the claims of bounties put on U.S. armed forces from Russia and they are damning for Democrats.
Reportedly, Rep. Adam Schiff knew about these claims since February of this year but kept them to himself.
This information comes as criticisms on President Trump for inaction have reached their peak in the past week.
CNN reported that an intelligence assessment concluding there was an effort by a Russian intelligence unit to place bounties on U.S. troops was included in the President’s daily briefing. The source who claimed the intelligence was present in a daily briefing earlier this spring also said, “This was a big deal. When it’s about US troops you go after it 100%, with everything you got.” Interestingly, CNN does not seem to hold that view when it comes to the marines—and a U.S. ambassador—who died in Benghazi.
Still, the outrage from the left about Trump’s supposed inaction is hard to ignore. Elsewhere, CNN reports:
“Congressional leaders were briefed by intelligence leaders on Thursday. Afterward, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer said ‘our Armed Forces would be better served if President Trump spent more time reading his daily briefing and less time planning military parades and defending relics of the Confederacy.’”
If planning military parades really was the cause for missing the intelligence and not acting on it, then sure, they would have a point. However, as The Federalist reports:
“Top committee staff for Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, were briefed in February on intelligence about Russia offering the Taliban bounties in Afghanistan, but he took no action in response to the briefing, multiple intelligence sources familiar with the briefing told The Federalist. The intelligence was briefed to Schiff’s staff during a congressional delegation, or CODEL, trip to Afghanistan in February.”
What else happened in February? Well, the Schiff-led sham of an impeachment concluded as President Trump was acquitted by the Senate on February 5, 2020. Our country as a whole would be better served if Rep. Adam Schiff spent more time paying attention to intelligence briefings he or his staff receive as part of his official role as chair of the Intelligence Committee than leading absurd witch-hunts.
I guess it doesn’t matter if a Democrat doesn’t reveal something like this, but when they though President Trump wasn’t being upfront about it, they were ready to crucify him.
