The Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) or Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP) or Capitol Hill Organized Protest, whatever the heck they’re calling themselves have been trying to get what they want by essentially holding the city of Seattle hostage.

The list is organized into four categories selected for “easy consideration”: the justice system, health and human services, economics, and education.
Some of the demands seem worth considering such as a broader discussion on “prosecutorial immunity” (often times also called qualified immunity) for police officers and seeking justice for those harassed and abused by the police or prison guards. However, many demands make it clear the group is more than just a “block party.” For example, the group included two particularly telling items under the justice system category:
- We demand the abolition of imprisonment, generally speaking, but especially the abolition of both youth prisons and privately-owned, for-profit prisons.
- We demand in replacement of the current criminal justice system the creation of restorative/transformative accountability programs as a replacement for imprisonment
CHOP apparently thinks the appropriate response to murder, rape, and other violent crimes is something akin to Alcoholics Anonymous.
Other items on the list are divergent from the current understanding of what it means to be a free country. Despite lauding their First Amendment rights to protest, under the education system the group demands
We demand that thorough anti-bias training become a legal requirement for all jobs in the education system, as well as in the medical profession and in mass media.
Obviously, only some of the First Amendment protections are important to CHOP, since the group demands the government begin requiring “anti-bias training” to be a part of the mass media, ultimately giving the government control of the Press.

Former Police Officer Charged in Death of George Floyd Spotted and Confronted at Grocery Store
Alexander Keung was one of the four police officers charged in the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After being freed on bail he was spotted and confronted while at a grocery store.
Keung was freed on Friday night on $750,000 bail, per a report from The New York Post. He was spotted at Cub Foods, located in Plymouth, which is a suburb of Minneapolis. Another shopper confronted him on camera.
President Trump Says Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Would be a ‘Big Improvement’ Over Chuck Schumer
President Trump took to Twitter to urge Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to run against longtime Senator Chuck Schumer in the 2022 primary in November.
