A caller on “The Breakfast Club” challenged the hosts Monday. She accused them of giving limited context on Trump’s White House clash with Zelenskyy.
During the “Front Page News” segment, the show highlighted the heated exchange. But it left out how Trump started the meeting cordially. It also skipped details leading to the argument.
The caller spoke up during the “Get It Off Your Chest” segment. She criticized the show for ignoring Zelenskyy’s role in the spat.
“It’s 45 minutes worth of conversation, and actually Trump was very nice and very quiet for a lot of the time until Zelenskyy threatened us,” she said. “And then that’s when Trump went off. So, I just want y’all to— I love y’all … but if you’re going to give the news, give the whole story.”
Trump had argued that the U.S. shouldn’t send more aid than European nations. He pointed out that America is separated by an ocean.
Zelenskyy responded sharply. “During the war, everybody has problems. Even you. But you have nice ocean and don’t feel now, but you will feel it in the future.”
That set Trump off. He pushed back, criticizing Zelenskyy for “dictat[ing] what we’re going to feel.”
The caller suggested the criticism of Trump was anti-American.
“It’s like, stand up for America because this is where we are,” she said. “If people don’t love America as a country and where they were born, people can leave.”
Charlamagne Tha God challenged her. “Could you trust America at this point?” he asked.
“Would I trust America for walking us into a war that they couldn’t win? That is horrible,” the caller shot back. “People’s lives are being lost. That’s more important than anything. You can’t replace lives.”
Charlamagne disagreed. He insisted everyone wants to end the war.
The meeting ended on a sour note. The scheduled joint press conference was canceled. The White House said Trump asked Zelenskyy to leave without signing a mineral extraction deal.
Trump explained on Truth Social. Zelenskyy “is not ready for peace if America is involved,” he wrote. “He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office.”
“He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”
Even Sen. Lindsey Graham, a strong Ukraine supporter, criticized Zelenskyy.
“Most Americans, after what they saw today, would not want Zelenskyy to be their business partner,” Graham said. “Including me, and I’ve been to Ukraine nine times since the war started.”
