World’s Largest Toymaker Set to Invest Millions in Massive U.S. Warehouse

The Lego Group is expanding its U.S. operations with a $366 million investment in a new 2 million-square-foot warehouse in Prince George County, Virginia, Governor Glenn Youngkin announced Thursday.

The facility will bring 305 new jobs to the region and support the company’s growing presence in the United States. “The Lego Group is not just a household name, it’s a symbol of creativity, innovation and quality that resonates globally,” Youngkin said. “Their decision to expand into Prince George County is an exciting new chapter in this partnership.”

The warehouse will serve as a regional distribution center operating alongside Lego’s previously announced factory in Chesterfield County. That 1.7 million-square-foot factory, announced in 2022, is scheduled to open in 2027 and will eventually employ more than 1,700 people.

Carsten Rasmussen, chief operations officer for the Lego Group, said the new distribution center will improve logistics and help streamline the company’s supply chain. “Together with our future Virginia factory, the RDC will shorten our supply chain in the region – reducing lead times for our customers as well as our environmental impact,” Rasmussen said.

Founded in Denmark in 1932, Lego remains a family-owned company headquartered in Billund. The company’s iconic bricks are now sold in over 120 countries.
