White House Press Secretary Set to Appear on ‘The View’ Despite No Press Briefings in Over a Week

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is set for an interview on “The View” on Tuesday. She hasn’t held a press conference since July 15.

“The View” announced Monday that Jean-Pierre would join the hosts. It’s her first interview since President Biden’s withdrawal from the race. The hosts are openly hostile to Trump and often praise the Biden administration.

President Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 contest on Sunday. He did this via a letter on social media. He endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him at the top of the ticket.

White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby spoke with reporters on July 18. This was according to the White House’s website. Jean-Pierre last held a press conference on July 15 with DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. They took questions about an assassination attempt against Trump.

After the debate with Trump, Jean-Pierre faced questions about Biden’s health. She said Biden intended to stay in the race. She referred to the debate as just a “bad night” for him.

Jean-Pierre had a contentious press conference in early July. Reporters asked about Dr. Kevin Cannard, a neurologist from Walter Reed. He met with Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, over the past year.

She refused to confirm Cannard’s name to reporters. She cited security and privacy concerns. Cannard was listed in the public visitor logs.

CBS’ Ed O’Keefe called her out during the press conference. He said, “we are miffed around here about what has been shared with the press corps about him.”

Jean-Pierre posted on X following Biden’s announcement.

“President Biden will go down in history as one of our greatest Presidents. Accomplishing more in 4 years than many accomplished in 8 years. He is also an honorable man. A decent man. And a person who has always put the country first,” she wrote.

Jean-Pierre added, “Working for him has been one of the highest honors of my life and I look forward to working with him to continue to deliver results for the American people through the end of this term.”
