Wendy’s Refuses to Back Down For Online Burn of Katy Perry’s Space Voyage

Katy Perry just soared to space. Wendy’s just stirred the pot.

After Perry returned from an 11-minute Blue Origin flight with an all-female crew, Wendy’s took aim. The burger chain replied to a post celebrating her return with a jab: “Can we send her back[?]”

The post exploded. Fans weren’t amused.

Wendy’s kept going. They twisted Perry’s hit “I Kissed a Girl” into a joke about her kissing the ground after landing. It didn’t land well.

Critics said the fast food chain crossed a line. The roast felt more mean-spirited than playful. “Not the usual funny jab,” one fan posted.

By Thursday, People magazine reported that Wendy’s had a chance to make peace. They passed.

“We always bring a little spice to our socials,” a Wendy’s spokesperson said. “But Wendy’s has a ton of respect for Katy Perry and her out-of-this-world-talent.”

Still, some say that wasn’t enough. A source close to Perry told People the post went too far. “It crossed a line from cheeky to cheap,” the source said.
