Last Friday, a car was hit by a train in Duluth, Georgia and the driver escaped just in time to not be crushed along with her vehicle. Now the Duluth Police Department is urging drivers to remain vigilant and cautious when driving around railroad tracks.

“Last Friday night, around 9:45 PM, officers responded to this crash involving a train that collided with a car at the railroad crossing on Duluth Hwy near Buford Hwy,” the department reports.

They added, “The driver told officers she was unfamiliar with the area and accidentally turned right onto the train tracks and became stuck. She exited her vehicle before it was hit by an oncoming train. If your car stalls or gets stuck on the railroad tracks, immediately call 911.”
