HomeNews WireWATCH: Susan Rice Scrambles To Cover For Obama Welcoming Terrorists After Trump Calls Them Out Editor January 7, 2020 Former National Security Advisor under the Obama administration, Susan Rice recently did an interview on CNN's "The Situation Room and ended up having to back peddle after President Trump called out Obama saying that Soleimani should have been killed years ago. Rice responded saying, “I am doubtful ultimately it will prove to be the right thing. In the first instance, any of us familiar with Qasem Soleimani and the extraordinary blood on his hands has to be happy to see him off the battlefield." She continued, "He was a murderer and terrorist of the first order. Having said that, whether we and Americans around the world are safer as a result of his targeted assassination than they would have been had we pursued other means to deal with what was purportedly the imminent threat at hand. I am not sure about that. I am not sure as I look at this, there are other ways to de-escalate this situation.” Wolf Blitzer then asked, “Do you trust what you’re hearing from the Trump administration right now, the initial information about the intelligence assessments?” Her response was nothing less than what was to be expected coming from a liberal, “I wish I could. This administration, sadly, tragically, has a record of almost daily misrepresenting the facts, telling falsehoods about issues big and very small. It’s hard to have confidence on the face of their representations. I’d like to see the evidence. I’d like to see the details behind the information that apparently led to this attack. Certainly, what Qasem Soleimani has done and Iran’s record would support what the administration is saying, not the least in the recent context, but one cannot be certain without seeing the facts.” Blitzer than said, “Do you expect administration officials right now are lying?” Rice responded and said, “I’m not prepared to say that. I hope certainly not. If they were lying about something of this magnitude, I hate to think of the consequences for the United States. But as I said, given their track record, one can’t be certain, as one would hope to be in a context like that the commander-in-chief and his top lieutenant are giving us the whole story.” She's doing her best not to say that she believes that the Trump administration was absolutely telling the truth because this is exactly what Iran does! Qassem Soleimani, who was killed by a U.S. airstrike in Baghdad early Friday, former national security adviser Susan Rice said Friday night. “Had we been presented such an opportunity, what we would have done is weigh very carefully and very deliberately the risks versus the potential rewards,” Rice told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. “So, if in fact the administration can be believed that there was indeed strong intelligence of an imminent threat against the United States that’s being carried out by Soleimani and related militia then the question becomes [was] there more than one way to address that threat?” Rice continued, “Was the only way to deal with it to kill Soleimani? Certainly, given his history and track record, he deserves his just rewards but the question is does that serve our interests? Does that make us more secure?” "I am doubtful that ultimately it will prove to be the right thing," says former national security adviser Susan Rice about President Trump's decision to order a US airstrike that killed Iranian general Qasem Soleimani. https://t.co/47nkJMu14i pic.twitter.com/LLSdDNASzL — CNN (@CNN) January 4, 2020 Susan Rice: "The Obama administration was not presented with an opportunity by our intelligence community or by the U.S. military to strike Qassem Soleimani." pic.twitter.com/y0CrcnfLvw — MSNBC (@MSNBC) January 4, 2020 Photo Credit: New America
