“Shut Up”: Bill Maher Slams Hollywood “Woke Left” For Democratic Failures

“Real Time” host Bill Maher issued a blunt warning to the Democratic Party on Monday. He told the California Post that Hollywood is destroying the party’s electoral chances. Maher argued that celebrities are out of touch with the reality of most Americans.

“Job one, tell the celebrities to ‘Just shut the f— up,'” Maher declared. He described Hollywood as the “epicenter of the woke left.” He believes the industry’s influence makes the Democratic Party appear nonsensical to average voters.

Maher’s critique follows a recent snub at the 83rd Annual Golden Globes earlier this month. His HBO special, “Is Anyone Else Seeing This?”, lost in the Best Stand-Up Comedy category. Ricky Gervais took home the award for “Mortality” instead.

The Golden Globes also debuted a new Best Podcast category this year. Mainstream hit “Good Hang with Amy Poehler” won the inaugural award. Maher blasted the ceremony as being run by “smug a–holes” who only nominate “super woke stuff.”

Joe Rogan’s top-rated podcast was notably absent from the final nomination list. Maher called the snub “ridiculous” given Rogan’s dominance in the medium. He predicted his own loss because “woke” Hollywood hates his willingness to call out both sides.

Progressives have fired back at Maher for his frequent attacks on “woke ideology.” Comedian Wanda Sykes took a swipe at him while presenting at the Globes. She joked that while Maher gives a lot, she would “love a little less.”

Maher remains firm that the Left has changed, not him. He famously referred to colleges as “daycare centers for crybullies” in his nominated special. He warned that if Democrats don’t distance themselves from celebrity elitism, they will continue to lose.

The talk show host also recently labeled NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani a “straight up communist.” He warned that denying these labels will lead to more election losses for Democrats. Maher continues to position himself as a voice for the “sensible” middle.
