Shootings SURGE In Just One Week After Plainclothes Anti-Crime Unit is Eliminated

Last week, the NYPD announced something that is frankly unbelievable. They are going to be eliminating their plainclothes anti-crime unit.

Yes, the New York Police Department is doing this, of all places in the U.S.

But I mean, this is understandable, isn't it? When criminals commit crimes in front of cops when they don't realize they are cops, that doesn't really give them a fair chance to get away with it, does it?

Hopefully, you picked up on my sarcasm there.

Now add to that New York releasing a slew of violent felons and what you have is a recipe for unprecedented violence in one of the most populating cities in American.

Within one week, there have been a total of 28 shootings resulting in 38 victims. If you compare that to last year's numbers of 12 shootings total for the same week, you have doubled the number of shootings.

Wait a minute…shouldn't their extreme gun laws be doing better than this?

According to The Daily Wire,

The New York Police Department announced on Monday that it is disbanding its anti-crime unit, which is a group of 600 officers who wear plainclothes to blend into the community in an effort to fight crime.

“The NYPD is disbanding its undercover anti-crime unit — after being involved in a ‘disproportionate’ number of shootings,” The New York Post reported. “The roughly 600 cops, spread out at precincts and PSAs across the city, will be reassigned into other posts, including the detective bureau and neighborhood police, the city’s top cop said.”

“This is 21st-century policing: intelligence, data, ShotSpotter, video, DNA, and building prosecutable cases,” NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said. “It continues to be building these cases—cases on a small number of people that unfortunately still terrorize a part of this city. I would consider this in the realm of closing on one of the last chapters on stop, question and frisk.”

NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea had this to say about it,

“When you look at the number of anti-crime officers that operate within New York City, and you look at a disproportionate, quite frankly, percentage of complaints and shootings — and they are said:

Doing exactly what was asked of them. It will be felt immediately throughout the five district attorney’s offices, it will be felt immediately in the communities that we protect.”

Here is what New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio had to say about it as well,

“It’s permanent. It’s a decision – look, Commissioner Shea and I have talked for a long time, literally for six and a half years about all the changes needed in this department and we’ve been steadily implementing them, and what we find is that these reforms work, they help us fight crime in a better way, and they bring community and police closer together.”

“So, this is a permanent change. The personnel will be using new and different ways to fight crime more effectively and in a way that creates a better relationship with the community, and that’s the way forward for this city and for the NYPD.”
