Sen. Mitt Romney Throws A Wrench In Senate Impeachment Trial

Senator Mitt Romney is a sad excuse for a Republican. I think the only reason he even calls himself a Republican is because he's Mormon and the Democratic platform is hideous.

Earlier this week, Romney the RINO threw a wrench into the upcoming Senate impeachment trial. Rather than siding with the Republicans, he looks to be siding with the Democrats.

Romney said that he would like to see former White House National Security Advisor John Bolton testify at the impeachment trial, “I would like to be able to hear from John Bolton. What the process is to make that happen, I don’t have an answer for you.”

This comes after Bolton said that he would be ready to testify before the Senate if he were issued a subpoena.

This was a shift from what Bolton had said previously during the House impeachment hearings. He had said before that he would not testify before the House Intelligence Committee unless he was ordered by a judge to do so.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is wanting former White House officials to testify during the impeachment trial but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that he will not be allowing that to happen.

During a floor speech, McConnell said, “We’ve heard it claimed that the same House Democrats who botched their own process should get to reach over here into the Senate and dictate our process.”

“Let me clarify Senate rules and Senate history for those who may be confused,” McConnell added. “First, about this fantasy that the Speaker of the House will get to hand-design the trial proceedings in the Senate, that’s obviously a non-starter.”

Regarding Schumer's request, McConnell said, “The House went ahead without witnesses, and they didn’t pursue the witnesses in court. They just blew right through that and accused the president of doing something improper by simply invoking executive privilege, which every president has done.”
