RUMOR: Mitch McConnell Is About To Make Sure Democrats Don’t Have A Merry Christmas

Now that House Democrats have voted on impeachment and things now head to the Senate it appears that Senator Mitch McConnell is going to make sure that the Democrats do not have a Merry Christmas.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has dismissed the idea of throwing out the trial and has clearly said that there will definitely be a trial in the Senate. He knows that it's going to look terrible for the Democrats and he wants them to look as bad as possible.

It also appears that McConnell is in no mood to let this thing drag out, earlier this week he said, “It is not the Senate’s job to leap into the breach and search desperately for ways to get to ‘guilty,” in a reply to Schumer.

"We don't create impeachments," he said in remarks prepared for delivery on the Senate floor. "We judge them."

"The House chose this road. It is their duty to investigate. It is their duty to meet the very high bar for undoing a national election," McConnell said. "If they fail, they fail. It is not the Senate's job to leap into the breach and search desperately for ways to "get to 'guilty.' That would hardly be impartial justice."

So now we have heard a rumor that some believe is true, and believe is not true.

Mark Halperin was quite a big thing in political media until laid low by the #MeToo movement. Since his defenestration from polite company he has been trying to make a come back…if I can say that given the nature of the allegations against him. He was on The Michael Smerconish Program on SiriusXM earlier today and claimed that sources close to Mitch McConnell told him that McConnell intends to hold the impeachment trial in December.

Does that mean finish the whole trial or start it? Halperin isn’t all that clear. If McConnell stands firm in refusing to let Schumer call random federal employees to testify, then the entire trial could be over in fairly short order. Regardless, if McConnell could do it, it would be epic. The trial would take place over Christmas and the New Years holiday. Only hardcore political junkies will be watching and the time horizon for the Democrats to play some clown game with unsupported allegations (in addition to the ones in the Articles of Impeachment) will be severely shortened. Before the left’s outrage machine could crank up, it would be over.

Can McConnell do this? If he thinks it gives him an advantage and he can whip the votes, yes. (Redstate)

Personally, I don't believe that they will begin the impeachment hearing before the New Year because I know that nearly every Senator would rather be at home with their families during Christmas so this wouldn't only hurt the Democrats but the Republicans as well, but only time will tell.
