Piers Morgan Tells Dem Candidate What She Could For Him To Take Her ‘A Lot More Seriously’

British journalist Piers Morgan ripped into Democratic congressional candidate Kat Abughazaleh on his show Monday, saying he would take her “a lot more seriously” if she would acknowledge President Donald Trump’s successes. Despite the ongoing border crisis under the Biden-Harris administration, Democrats have continued to push back against Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration. During a debate on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Morgan challenged Abughazaleh to name one accomplishment from Trump’s first 100 days.

“I am genuinely thinking about this. I personally don’t like Project 2025. But they are accomplishing the goals in there,” Abughazaleh said. “I don’t mean that in a snarky way, if that is what you want to do, then they are doing that well,” she added, hesitating to praise Trump outright.

Morgan pressed harder, pointing to Trump’s border policies. “I would take everything you say a lot more seriously if you said, ‘You know what, Piers? What is indisputable is that on the southern border there’s been a 95% drop in the number of people coming over illegally. That is clearly demonstrably, inarguably, and nonpartisan, inarguably, a fact, and he should be celebrated and acknowledged for that,’” Morgan said.

Since Trump’s inauguration, his second administration has deported 139,000 illegal immigrants. Border czar Tom Homan said Monday that ICE arrest removals have gone “far beyond” the numbers seen under the Biden-Harris administration. The enforcement numbers have been largely ignored by mainstream media outlets.

Morgan criticized the lack of honest reporting. “But it’s been completely ignored by many in the mainstream media. This is my problem with it is that the anti-Trump sentiment is always so intense that no one can even bring it upon themselves to give him credit for an obvious win for America,” he said. “That is an obvious win for the United States.”

Abughazaleh defended her stance, saying Trump’s treatment of immigrants was unacceptable. “No, I think that the way that Trump is treating immigrants, this is a country that’s built by immigrants,” she responded. “My dad is an immigrant.”

Morgan pushed back, highlighting the sheer numbers crossing illegally. Abughazaleh countered that many were seeking asylum and brought up the deportation of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia to El Salvador. Morgan reminded her that millions crossed the border and questioned if they were all legitimate asylum seekers.

Abughazaleh insisted the system itself was broken. “I think that we don’t have a good enough asylum process, and there are plenty that are claiming asylum. It doesn’t matter whether someone is claiming asylum or not. Trump is treating them all the same,” she said. “He just deported a two-year-old U.S. citizen back to Honduras who was being treated for cancer.”

On Friday, ICE deported two illegal migrant mothers who had U.S. citizen children between the ages of two and seven. Some news outlets focused on the deportation of the children, but Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified the situation on “Meet the Press,” saying the mothers had the option to take their children with them.
