Nikki Glaser Roasts Leonardo Dicaprio And CBS News At Golden Globes

Nikki Glaser took the stage as host for the 83rd GOLDEN GLOBE Awards on Sunday night. The comedian used her opening monologue to target some of Hollywood’s biggest stars and major media outlets.

Glaser centered one of her sharpest jokes on Leonardo DiCaprio. She poked fun at his history of dating much younger women while praising his career success.

“What a career you’ve had,” Glaser said to the actor. “The most impressive thing is that you were able to accomplish that all before your girlfriend turned 30.”

DiCaprio was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for his role in One Battle After Another. He was seen laughing and giving a thumbs-up in response to the jab.

Glaser then shifted her attention to the network broadcasting the ceremony. She mocked CBS News for its recent editorial changes and controversies.

“And the award for ‘Most Editing’ goes to CBS News,” Glaser quipped. “Yes, CBS News, America’s newest place to see BS News.”

The joke alluded to internal tensions at the network under new leadership. CBS News recently faced criticism for pulling a 60 Minutes segment and overhauling its news division.

The monologue also included a reference to the DOJ. Glaser joked that the department deserved an award for its “editing” of heavily redacted government files.

“The GOLDEN GLOBE for Best Editing goes to the Justice Department,” she said to the star-studded room. This was a nod to the slow-roll release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

Glaser’s return to the hosting gig follows a successful debut last year. She has quickly become known for her biting commentary on current events and celebrity culture.

The awards show itself marked a return to more overtly political themes. Several stars on the red carpet wore pins protesting ICE and mourning the death of Renee Good.
