Nick Bosa, the San Francisco 49ers star, crashed Brock Purdy’s postgame interview on “Sunday Night Football.” He appeared behind Purdy, George Kittle, and Isaac Guerendo, sporting a Make America Great Again hat.
Bosa flashed the hat during the interview. He pointed it out, and NBC’s Melissa Stark acknowledged it before continuing with the questions.
Fans didn’t catch this moment during the live feed. Stark’s interview with Purdy, Kittle, and Guerendo, posted at 11:57 p.m. ET, omitted Bosa’s cameo.
By Monday morning, the clip was deleted altogether. NFL fans were quick to notice the missing footage.
Later, the “Sunday Night Football” account re-shared the full clip, showcasing Bosa’s MAGA hat moment. But it was deleted and reposted again shortly after.
NBC Universal Group stayed silent about the mishap.
Bosa’s appearance was notable, given other NFL players’ political endorsements this election season. Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker backed former President Donald Trump, while Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Thomas Booker IV supported Vice President Kamala Harris.
In the game, Bosa had three tackles, a sack, and three QB hits. Before facing the Cowboys, he had 3.5 sacks and 25 tackles. The 49ers improved to 4-4 for the season.
Bosa has long supported Trump, dating back to before his NFL career. In 2019, he scrubbed his social media of Trump posts and criticism of Colin Kaepernick, fearing backlash in San Francisco if drafted by the 49ers.
