Just days after winning an Olympic medal, Steve Kerr took the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. It’s a place he’s familiar with, having played for the Bulls.
Kerr, who had already endorsed Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, explained why he was there. He used Olympic metaphors to support the Democratic pair.
He closed with a bold prediction about the election. He tied it back to the Olympics and a moment with Steph Curry from the Warriors.
“I’ll be helping people vote on November 5,” Kerr told the crowd. He added, “After the results, we can say, ‘Night, night!’” referencing Curry.
Curry’s “Night, night” moment went viral after he hit a crucial three-pointer in the gold-medal game against France. His celebration was a signal of victory.
Social media quickly embraced it, captioning it “Night, night” or “Nuit, nuit” in French.
Kerr also shared why he supports Harris and Walz. He believes in leadership with dignity, truth, and humor. Leaders should love and care for their people, he said.
He argued that these qualities should be in a president too. For Kerr, it’s no contest—Harris and Walz have those qualities.
Kerr’s political views are well-known, especially on gun control. He was critical of Trump during his presidency.
Recently, Kerr spoke on gun violence after an assassination attempt on Trump. It was a grim reminder of the country’s issues, he said.
Kerr acknowledged the risk of speaking out politically. But he’s not backing down as Election Day approaches.
