Investor Kevin O’Leary ripped into Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) for joking about Tesla stock dropping. He called the remark “beyond stupid.”
O’Leary, a CNN panel contributor, reacted to Tesla’s struggles. Dealerships have been attacked, and the stock is falling. Musk’s ties to the Trump administration aren’t helping.
Walz recently told a crowd he gets “a boost” every time he sees Tesla stock go down. O’Leary wasn’t impressed.
“That poor guy didn’t check his portfolio and his own pension plan for the state. It’s beyond stupid what he did,” O’Leary said.
Minnesota’s retirement fund held 1.6 million Tesla shares as of June 2024. More recent numbers aren’t available. O’Leary pointed this out.
“What’s the matter with that guy? He doesn’t check the well-being of his own constituents,” he asked.
“What a bozo,” O’Leary added.
Walz, who ran alongside Kamala Harris in the election, is now touring the country. He’s talking about the Trump administration and Musk’s role in it. Tesla stock has dropped sharply since December as Musk’s influence has grown.
