HomeNews WireElizabeth Warren Tells Reporter Health Insurance Agents Will Work After She Kills Their Jobs Editor November 5, 2019 At a campaign event in Iowa, Elizabeth Warren was asked by a reporter what would happen to the thousands of people who would lose their jobs as a result of implementing her 100% government-controlled medicare for all since private insurance would no longer exist. If you're not listening closely her answer sounds like they just get moved around somewhere else that is related unless, like another department or something. But if you really pay attention and think about what she actually says, you'll see that her answer is a non-answer and really shows how politicians make themselves sound great when something isn't so great. The question the reporter asks is, "We work in private insurance and all the people here in Des Moine who work in private health insurance. Where do they go and work when private insurance is eliminated?" Here was her response "So if you've had a chance to read the plan you'll see, no one gets left behind. Some of the people currently working in health insurance will work in other parts of insurance. In life insurance, in auto insurance, in car insurance, some will work for Medicaid. And there is a five-year transition support for everyone. Because what this is about is how we strengthen America’s middle class, and how we make sure that in transitions no one gets left behind. It’s right there in the plan, and it’s fully paid for.” Q: Where do those who work in health insurance go when private insurance is eliminated? Sen. Warren: "No one gets left behind. Some of the people currently working in health insurance will work in other parts of insurance. In life insurance, in auto insurance, in car insurance." pic.twitter.com/5jztvYbqnb — The Hill (@thehill) November 1, 2019 This isn't just as simple as "other parts of insurance" like she makes it out to be. These job fields are not related. Sure they are all insurance, but they're all completely different insurance and require different times of licensing and training. Her comment is just like saying that she's going to get rid of every real estate agent and instead they're going to go to other areas of sales. Well that's pretty broad. That could be car sales, phone sales, magazine sales, or pull an Al Bundy and get into shoe sales. Health insurance is different than car insurance. Car insurance is different than life insurance. These are not all one and the same. So here's the hard truth, if you're in health insurance, you're going to need to get a new job. You can go sell life insurance if you want, but you're going to be starting over in your career and do just like anyone else to get certified to sell life insurance. What Warren is really saying is that you'll need to find a new job.
