Denounce the Onesies: Bernie Sanders Goes Off the Rails

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) grilled Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over a controversial baby onesie. The onesie, sold by a group Kennedy founded, reads “No Vax, No Problem.”

During Kennedy’s confirmation hearing, Sanders pressed him on vaccines. He highlighted photos of the onesies sold by Children’s Health Defense, a nonprofit known for lawsuits against the federal government. Kennedy once chaired the group.

“You have started a group called the Children’s Health Defense,” Sanders said. “As I understand, they are selling onesies, these little things, clothing for babies.” He noted the price—$26.

Kennedy faced intense scrutiny from Democrats on vaccines. He insisted he’s not anti-vaccine. “My children are vaccinated,” he told the senators.

Sanders pushed back. “You say you are pro-vaccine, yet your organization is making money selling a child’s product for 26 bucks, which casts fundamental doubt on the usefulness of vaccines.”

Kennedy denied any involvement. “Senator, I have no power over that organization,” he said. “I’m not part of it. I resigned from the board just a few months ago.”

Sanders wasn’t convinced. “You founded that,” he shot back. “You certainly have power.”

Kennedy no longer serves as chair or chief legal counsel, according to a December filing. In 2023, he earned $326,000 for three months of work at the nonprofit. A page on the group’s website still calls him a “founder.”

After Sanders’s questioning, the group responded online. “Get your CHD Baby Onesies here!” they posted on X. “Thanks for the plug @BernieSanders! We know it doesn’t compete with what Big Pharma gifts you, but let us know if you want some CHD merch.”
