Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia of California condemned recent vandalism at Tesla dealerships. This comes despite his fiery comments about Tesla CEO Elon Musk just weeks ago.
When asked Garcia said he “absolutely” condemns any damage to Tesla property. “Yeah, look, nobody should be doing any sort of vandalism, any sort of vandalism with a Tesla or anything else, of course, absolutely,” Garcia said.
His remarks followed a CNN appearance on Feb. 12, where he called for Democrats to bring “actual weapons” to the fight against Musk. “Well he is a dick, and I think he’s also harming the American public in an enormous way,” Garcia said.
“This is an actual fight for democracy, for the future of this country, and it’s important to push back on the chairperson of this committee,” he added.
On CNN, Garcia also blasted Musk’s attempts to undo several federal agencies. He accused Musk of trying to “dismantle the Department of Labor,” the Department of Education, and consumer protection offices.
Garcia didn’t stop there. He also slammed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, calling her unserious. “She shouldn’t be treated as such,” he said.
Tesla locations have been hit by vandalism nationwide in recent weeks. The backlash targets Musk’s ties to Trump and his push to cut federal waste through the Department of Government Efficiency.
Attorney General Pam Bondi called the attacks a “wave of domestic terrorism.” Trump echoed that on Truth Social, saying he hopes the “sick terrorist thugs” get 20-year sentences.
FBI Director Kash Patel said Monday a new task force has been created. It’s focused entirely on the Tesla-related crimes.
