CNN Contributor Blasts James Carville for ‘Having an Emotional Breakdown’

Republican strategist Scott Jennings fired back at James Carville. Carville had predicted Trump’s administration would “collapse” within 30 days.

“I believe this administration is in the midst of a massive collapse,” Carville told Dan Abrams. Jennings wasn’t buying it. On his podcast, he said Carville has been floundering ever since his failed prediction that Kamala Harris would win in 2024.

“Honestly, I think he’s having an emotional breakdown,” Jennings said. “If anybody’s collapsing, it’s James Carville.” He called Carville a one-hit wonder, saying his only major success was helping Bill Clinton win in 1992.

Jennings reminded listeners of Carville’s October NYT op-ed. Carville had confidently guaranteed a Harris victory, citing three reasons: Trump lost before, Harris had more money, and his “emotional instincts.” Jennings mocked the reasoning, saying Carville has been spiraling ever since.

Carville had also claimed Harris’ coalition was too strong to fail. He pointed to figures like AOC, Liz Cheney, and Dick Cheney backing her. Jennings called it nonsense.

Jennings dismissed the idea of Trump collapsing. “Trump has been one of the most stable politicians of the modern era,” he said. Outside of a dip after January 6th, Trump’s support has barely budged. “His people stick with him. The people who hate him stick against him. But he doesn’t fluctuate much.”

He accused Carville of “wish-casting” Trump’s failure. “They want him to collapse. They want the country to fail,” Jennings said. “But it’s just not going to happen. Certainly not in 30 days.”

Trump’s second-term approval rating has stayed between 47.9% and 50%, according to FiveThirtyEight.

Carville admitted his deep disappointment after Trump’s win. “It’s depressing,” he said in November. “But I will snap out of it.”
