NewsNation host Chris Cuomo is calling out Democrats — and he isn’t buying their excuse for refusing to release Jeffrey Epstein documents during the Biden years. He said the party’s claims about “ongoing litigation” don’t hold up. And he made it clear he thinks Democrats simply didn’t want the truth exposed while they were in charge.
Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett recently claimed on CNN that “pending litigation” involving Ghislaine Maxwell was the reason her party didn’t push to unseal the files. But Cuomo wasn’t having it. “The left is saying it’s all about the victims. I don’t buy it, okay?” he said.
“It wasn’t about the victims wanting transparency and you wanting it for them during the Biden administration?” Cuomo asked. He pointed out that only a handful of Democrats ever pushed for transparency during Biden’s four years. To him, the sudden outrage now looks political, not sincere.
Cuomo also mocked the idea that Maxwell’s case tied anyone’s hands. “Oh, wait, hold on. The Maxwell investigation was still going on. We couldn’t release anything. Who’s going to believe that?” he said. “So no other investigation could go on of other people at the same time that Ghislaine Maxwell was being investigated? Really?”
He wasn’t alone. SiriusXM host Stephen A. Smith blasted Democrats for the same thing. “The Epstein files were in existence and free to have been open during the Biden administration!… Why didn’t you do it if it’s so important now!?” Smith shouted.
Even Democrats are starting to call each other out. Sen. John Fetterman admitted on MSNBC that his party sat on the files for years. “[O]ne of my questions is like … we sat on those for four years, too,” he said. “There are a lot of questions.”
President Donald Trump, meanwhile, is pushing aggressively for transparency. He called on House Republicans to vote to release the full Epstein files after a discharge petition forced the issue. A vote is now scheduled for Tuesday — and the pressure is building.
