Body Cam Footage Shows Police Officer Kills Woman In Her Own Home For No Apparent Reason Whatsoever [Video]

This A Fort Worth, Texas police officer shot and killed a woman inside her home for absolutely no reason.

The police department received a call from a concerned neighbor after noticing that her front door was open and lights were on early in the morning.

According to CNN,

Atatiana Koquice Jefferson, 28, was killed around 2:30 a.m. Saturday after a neighbor called dispatchers to report the woman's front door was open, police said.

James Smith, Jefferson's neighbor, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram he called a non-emergency police number when he saw her doors open and lights on in the early morning hours. Officers arrived and parked near but not in front of the residence, police spokesman Lt. Brandon O'Neil said Sunday at a news conference.

The officers were searching the perimeter of the woman's home when they saw a person standing inside near a window and one of them opened fire, killing her, police said.

Now the Fort Worth Police Department is looking into the matter, but the attorney for the woman's family says that they shouldn't be investigating themselves to see if they've done wrong.

Shouldn't this be common sense?

This situation does not ever need to happen again. This officer should never have had his weapon drawn. Honestly, he should never have been on her property to begin with.

The way I see it, this officer was no different than a prowler snooping around my house who may be a threat (and obviously was). If you park far from my house, look around the perimeter of my home with a flashlight – and I can see someone with a light outside – you'd better believe I'm grabbing a gun to defend myself.

This is the same problem with swat situations or things of that nature. When you come into someone's house without their knowing it, you'd better be expecting someone to have a weapon to protect themselves from an intruder, yet too often, officers use this to justify killing them.

The officer has since resigned from the his position and has been arrested and charged with murder.
