The Philadelphia Eagles are responding to a “counterfeit” political ad that endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election. The ad spread on social media Monday.
The Eagles issued a statement denying any involvement with the animated poster showing Harris in an Eagles helmet. They also stated they are actively working to have the ads removed.
“We are aware counterfeit political ads are being circulated and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed,” the team posted on social media.
The poster, reportedly spotted at a bus stop in Philadelphia, falsely claimed Harris as the “official candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles.”
It even included a link to the Eagles’ website for voting information. However, the site only had outdated information from before the Pennsylvania and New Jersey primaries.
CBS News reported that the poster is the work of street artist Winston Tseng.
In a 2023 interview with Street Art News, Tseng said he enjoys using brands and advertising to highlight societal issues, aiming to bring unexpected attention to them in our daily lives.
