Americans Rate Trump’s Incoming Cabinet Choices in New Poll

A new Fox News poll shows most American voters are hopeful about President-elect Donald Trump’s re-election. But opinions are split on his top cabinet picks for the upcoming administration.

The survey, conducted Dec. 6-9 and released Wednesday, found 54% of respondents felt hopeful after Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

However, 47% approved of Trump’s cabinet choices, while 50% disapproved. The nominees include some unconventional picks.

Similarly, opinions were divided on Elon Musk’s role as a close adviser during the transition. Musk received 47% approval, with 50% disapproving.

Other recent polls offer more insight into public sentiment about Trump’s return to the White House. A CNN poll showed 54% believe Trump will do a good job as president.

Additionally, 55% approve of how Trump is managing the transition process. This marks an improvement from his first term but still lags behind other recent presidents.

A Marist Poll revealed 47% support Trump’s transition efforts, with 39% disapproving and 14% unsure. The data highlights a sharp partisan divide.

In the Marist survey, 86% of Republicans approved of Trump’s transition. Conversely, 72% of Democrats disapproved, while independents were more split, with 43% disapproving and 38% approving.

“More independents are taking a wait-and-see approach than partisans,” said Lee Miringoff of the Marist Institute. He cautioned that Trump’s transition approval is lower than Biden’s or Obama’s at this stage.

Meanwhile, Trump’s cabinet picks are meeting with senators ahead of confirmation hearings next month. The transition process has faced challenges.

For example, Trump’s first attorney general nominee, Matt Gaetz, withdrew amid allegations of misconduct. Still, Trump has moved faster in naming nominees compared to his first term.

Over the weekend, Trump made his first international trip since the election. During a visit to Paris, he engaged with world leaders.

Trump is set to be inaugurated on Jan. 20.
