Dr. Phil McGraw blasted Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) on Monday, calling her anti-American rhetoric “disgusting” and accusing her of showing zero gratitude toward the country that gave her a new life.
Omar sparked controversy in a June 13 interview on “Democracy Now!” when she claimed the United States was becoming “one of the worst countries” while criticizing the Army’s 250th anniversary parade.
Speaking on “The Real Story,” Dr. Phil reminded viewers of Omar’s journey from a war-torn Somalia to a U.S. congressional seat — and called her attitude toward America an outright disgrace.
“She fled a failed state, lived in a refugee camp, and was given housing, education, opportunity, and freedom in the U.S.,” Dr. Phil said. “She became a citizen at 17 and was elected to Congress — the American Dream! And instead of gratitude, she bashes the country that saved her.”
While acknowledging her right to free speech, Dr. Phil didn’t hold back. “She has every right to say what she’s saying,” he said. “But I have the right to say it’s absolutely disgusting.”
He also pointed to a 2021 tweet where Omar lumped the U.S. and Israel in with Hamas and the Taliban. “That’s crazy talk,” Dr. Phil said. “Equating America with terrorist groups? It’s insane.”
The talk show host slammed her infamous 2019 remark about 9/11, when Omar referred to the attacks as “some people did something.” Dr. Phil asked, “Really? That’s how you stand up for your country?”
He said voters who supported her now know exactly who they put in office — and urged them to take action. “Kick her ass to the curb!” he said bluntly.
Dr. Phil’s fiery rebuke adds to the growing backlash against Omar from both sides of the aisle, as critics accuse her of consistently tearing down the very nation that gave her a future.
