McDonald’s Adding Brand New ‘Crispy’ Item to the Menu Permanently

McDonald’s is adding McCrispy Strips to its U.S. menu — permanently. This expands the “Crispy” items at McDonald’s.

They’ll be available nationwide by May 5. But some lucky locations are already serving them starting Thursday.

The new strips come with a “savory, sweet and tangy” creamy chili sauce. It’s launching right alongside the chicken.

This marks McDonald’s first new permanent item in about four years. It’s part of their push to expand chicken offerings.

“The demand for chicken strips has been remarkable to see across the industry,” said Alyssa Buetkofer, McDonald’s chief marketing and customer experience officer. “We took our time, listened to our fans, and created a product we knew they would crave.”

The McCrispy Strips feature 100% white meat chicken. They’re coated in golden-brown breading with a bold black pepper kick.

You can order them in packs of three or four. Three comes with one chili dip; four gets you two.

CEO Chris Kempczinski hinted at this back in February. He told investors that chicken strips were coming soon.

He also teased the return of Snack Wraps in the U.S. later this year. That item hasn’t been on the menu since 2016.

Kempczinski said McDonald’s is pushing hard in the chicken space. “We’re excited about the significant opportunity we see within our chicken portfolio,” he said.
