Former Republican Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz is stepping into a new role on One America News Network (OAN). Starting in January, Gaetz will host “The Matt Gaetz Show” at 9 p.m. EST every weeknight, OAN announced Tuesday.
Gaetz took the job after resigning from Congress and withdrawing his nomination as U.S. attorney general under President-elect Donald Trump. OAN highlighted Gaetz’s conservative values and outspoken style in its press release.
“With Gaetz rounding out OAN’s prime-time lineup, the network is set for a groundbreaking 2025,” the release stated. “Matt Gaetz has a reputation for challenging Washington insiders and exposing government overreach. His dynamic approach makes him a perfect addition to OAN.”
Gaetz shared his excitement about the new role. “OAN is blazing a trail in media,” he said. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to join this forward-thinking team.”
In addition to his show, Gaetz will co-host a podcast with OAN’s Dan Ball. The podcast aims to connect with younger audiences through streaming and social media platforms.
OAN President Charles Herring praised Gaetz’s experience and leadership. “Matt is a remarkable talent and a principled leader,” Herring said. “His insider access and dedication to America-first values will bring unparalleled insight to our viewers.”
Gaetz served in Congress from 2017 until his resignation on Nov. 13. His departure came after Trump nominated him for attorney general. Shortly after, the House Ethics Committee stopped investigating allegations against him.
The DOJ announced in February 2023 that Gaetz would not face charges tied to claims by Joel Greenberg, a Florida tax collector. Greenberg’s 2021 plea deal on unrelated crimes did not implicate Gaetz.
In a Nov. 21 statement, Gaetz explained withdrawing his attorney general nomination. He said the process had “unfairly [become] a distraction.”
