President-elect Donald Trump addressed his supporters early Wednesday after securing over 270 electoral votes. He declared the launch of the “greatest political movement of all time.”
“This was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time,” Trump stated just before 2:30 a.m. “There’s never been anything like this in this country, and maybe beyond.” He emphasized the importance of healing the nation.
“We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly,” he continued. “We’re going to fix our borders. We’re going to fix everything about our country. We’ve made history for a reason tonight.” Cheers erupted from the crowd as he spoke about overcoming obstacles.
Trump took the stage after Fox News projected his victory in Pennsylvania, along with wins in Wisconsin, Georgia, and North Carolina. He officially defeated Harris shortly after 1:45 a.m.
He promised to lead the “golden age of America” upon his inauguration. “Every citizen, I will fight for you, for your family and your future,” he pledged. “With every breath in my body, I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve.”
Throughout the election, Pennsylvania was viewed as crucial. Both campaigns focused heavily on this battleground state. Georgia was also fiercely contested, but Trump emerged victorious there too.
Vice President-elect JD Vance addressed the crowd, expressing gratitude to Trump. “I appreciate you allowing me to join you on this incredible journey,” he said. He described the night as witnessing the “greatest political comeback in the history of the United States.”
Flanked by his family, Trump invited UFC CEO Dana White to speak. He also acknowledged Elon Musk and golfer Bryson DeChambeau. “We will make America safe, strong, prosperous, powerful, and free again,” he said, calling for all citizens to join him in this “noble and righteous endeavor.”
After winning key states, Trump hinted at more victories ahead. “In addition to having won North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, we are now winning in Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, and Alaska,” he noted. “We also have won the popular vote.”
Meanwhile, the Harris-Walz campaign wrapped up for the night. Campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon encouraged supporters to rest as Trump began to lead. Harris chose not to speak to her supporters that night.
Co-chair Cedric Richmond addressed the crowd, saying, “We still have votes to count. We will continue overnight to fight to make sure that every vote is counted.” He assured supporters they would hear from Harris the next day.
