Elon Musk says he’ll “be there to support” Donald Trump on Saturday. Trump is returning to Butler, Pennsylvania, for a rally at the site of the first assassination attempt against him earlier this year.
Trump will speak on October 5 at the Butler Farm Show fairgrounds. It’s a suburb north of Pittsburgh.
“I will be there to support!” Musk posted on X Thursday night. His comment was in response to a promotional image Trump shared about the event.
“Butler on Saturday – historic!” Trump wrote, alongside an image of himself raising his fist. The photo was taken moments after he was shot on July 13.
Following that rally, Musk said, “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”
Trump’s campaign confirmed the rally last week. They noted it would be held “on the very same ground where he came within a quarter of an inch of losing his life less than three months ago.”
Last Wednesday, during a rally in North Carolina, Trump expressed his desire to return to Butler. He said, “I wanted to finish our speech.”
Trump also addressed the assassination attempts, saying, “There have been two assassination attempts on my life that we know of. The first one happened in Butler, Pennsylvania, and we’re going back.”
During the event, Trump will honor those lost in the assassination attempt. Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old firefighter, “historically sacrificed his life to shield his wife and daughters,” the campaign shared.
Trump will also recognize David Dutch and James Copenhaver, who were wounded during the attack.
His campaign stated Trump will “express deep gratitude to law enforcement and first responders.” He will also thank the community for their overwhelming support.
“When a shooter attacked our democracy,” the campaign said, “President Trump will return, joined by tens of thousands, to celebrate a unifying vision for America’s future.”
