Donald Trump says 2024 will be his last run for president, win or lose.
In an interview aired on Full Measure, Trump confirmed he won’t be running again in 2028 if he loses this election.
“No, I don’t,” Trump said when asked about a potential fourth campaign. “I think that that will be it. I don’t see that at all.”
Trump’s political journey started with his 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton. He then lost his reelection bid in 2020 and now faces Kamala Harris in a fight to reclaim the White House.
By 2028, Trump would be 82 years old.
Age has already been a hot topic in this race. Trump, 78, was set to go against Joe Biden, 81, until Biden exited the race in July. Pressure from Democrats worried about Biden’s age played a role in his decision.
Kamala Harris, 59, has emphasized the stakes for U.S. democracy while focusing on issues like family costs and housing.
When asked if the four-year break helped him determine who he could trust, Trump said, “It would have been easier if I did it … contiguous.”
“But the benefit is more than anything else, it shows how bad they were,” Trump added.
Trump also mentioned it’s “too early” to discuss deals for positions in his potential future cabinet.
