Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is pushing back against claims that he sought a position in a potential Democratic administration.
This week, reports emerged accusing Kennedy of reaching out to Vice President Kamala Harris’ team. The claim, reported by the Washington Post, suggested he was interested in a Cabinet role.
“That’s fake news. I didn’t ask Kamala Harris for a Cabinet position, but I’ve reached out to all the candidates. I’ve met with some,” Kennedy stated during his live-streamed “TikTok Town Hall.”
Kennedy said he met with other candidates, specifically noting a meeting with Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver.
His goal? To discuss lowering the rhetoric, unifying the country, and addressing issues like ending wars.
However, Kennedy expressed doubts about serving in a Harris-Walz administration. He mentioned that “a lot of different changes” would need to happen for that to be possible.
Kennedy shared that Harris has declined to meet with him, unlike other candidates. He added it would be challenging to work with their administration without significant changes.
The Washington Post report claimed Kennedy sought a meeting with Harris, aiming for a Cabinet position. This comes after his presidential bid faced a setback when a judge ruled his name should not appear on New York’s ballot.
Kennedy was also previously seen speaking with former President Trump at a recent convention. Trump seemingly hinted at possible roles in his administration.
Despite these interactions, Kennedy continues his campaign, appearing in the media and keeping his vision for the country at the forefront. Polls show Kennedy as a notably disruptive independent candidate, with broad appeal and strong supporter commitment.
