Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino recently revealed the source of a viral July 2025 social media post that left millions of followers stunned. Speaking on “The Vince Show” Monday, Bongino explained that internal documents regarding the Crossfire Hurricane investigation “shocked” him to his “core.”
The investigation, which targeted President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, remains a focal point for critics of federal overreach. Bongino recounted reading the files on a Friday night in his Washington, D.C. apartment and being unable to believe such actions occurred in America.
He stated that the “guardrails” of the bureau broke down because of the individuals in charge. Bongino described himself as being “really shaken” by the incredibly poor decision-making detailed in the classified reports.
The former Secret Service agent officially left his post at the bureau on January 4, 2026. He previously served as the number two official alongside FBI Director Kash Patel during the administration’s first year.
Bongino plans to discuss these revelations in more depth on his new program. The show is slated to launch February 2 on Rumble and will focus on behind-the-scenes insights from his time in the government.
The DOJ is currently reviewing several files from that era as part of a broader transparency push. Bongino emphasized that his goal is to share a message of resilience while exposing how institutional failures occurred.
