Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a stern warning to protesters in Minneapolis on Thursday. She told activists not to test the federal government’s resolve by obstructing ICE agents.
Bondi emphasized that while peaceful protesting is a “sacred American right,” attacking federal officers is a crime. “If you cross that red line, you will be arrested and prosecuted,” she wrote on X.
The warning follows a surge of demonstrations after the shooting death of 37-year-old Renee Good. Good was killed during a massive ICE operation involving roughly 2,000 federal agents.
Authorities stated that an agent opened fire after Good allegedly tried to strike him with her vehicle. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called the shooting “justified” and said the officer followed his training.
Noem claimed that Good had been “harassing” and “impeding” agents throughout the day before the fatal confrontation. The officer involved was briefly hospitalized but has since been released.
Protests turned tense on Thursday as dozens of activists gathered outside a federal immigration building. Demonstrators shouted “Go home, Nazis” and “No more ICE” as federal agents stood guard.
Border Patrol agents eventually used smoke grenades to push the crowd away from the facility. Minnesota officials have urged protesters to stay off the roadways to avoid “unsafe or illegal actions.”
Department of Public Safety Commissioner Bob Jacobson warned that entering freeways or throwing objects will result in fines. He stated that “riotous behavior” toward anyone would not be tolerated.
The FBI has launched an investigation into the shooting to provide a final resolution. However, Secretary Noem insisted that the agent acted correctly when the woman “attempted to run a law enforcement officer over.”
The massive federal presence in Minneapolis remains part of a broader crackdown on immigration and fraud. Attorney General Bondi made it clear that federal property and personnel will be protected at all costs.
