First lady Melania Trump took to social media on Monday to highlight her top achievements of 2025. Her most significant accomplishment was the passage of the “Take It Down Act,” which targets the distribution of nonconsensual intimate imagery.
The landmark legislation makes it a federal crime to publish or threaten to publish deepfake or intimate images without consent. It also forces social media platforms to remove such content within 48 hours of a victim’s request.
Melania Trump was instrumental in the bill’s bipartisan success, making a rare trip to Capitol Hill to urge House members to act. The bill passed with overwhelming support, including a 409-to-2 vote in the House and unanimous consent in the Senate.
The first lady also hosted a heartbreaking roundtable with young women whose lives had been impacted by online exploitation. She later invited one of these victims to attend the president’s address before a joint session of Congress.
Beyond online safety, she championed an executive order to support foster families and secured $25 million for foster care housing. Her work also included launching a national K-12 A.I. program to prepare students for the future.
On the world stage, the first lady celebrated her role in reuniting families impacted by the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. She also launched a global coalition at the United Nations focused on international child welfare and education.
