Impeachment Spree: Democrats Target RFK Jr. And Pete Hegseth

A House Democrat has filed articles of impeachment against Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., accusing him of failing in his role and turning his back on science. Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., announced the move on Wednesday, fulfilling a previous vow to initiate the action.

Stevens released a statement on social media claiming: “RFK Jr. has turned his back on science and the safety of the American people. Michiganders cannot take another day of his chaos.”

HHS spokesman Andrew Nixon dismissed the effort as a political distraction. Nixon said in a statement, “Secretary Kennedy remains focused on the work of improving Americans’ health and lowering costs, not on partisan political stunts.”

This move follows closely behind similar action from a fellow Michigan Democrat. Just days ago, Rep. Shri Thanedar, D-Mich., filed articles of impeachment against War Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Thanedar accused Hegseth of issuing orders to “kill everybody” onboard a small vessel allegedly involved in drug trafficking. Thanedar stated, “Pete Hegseth has been using the United States military to extrajudicially assassinate people without evidence of any crime.” He concluded that Hegseth’s alleged conduct constitutes war crimes and “cannot allow his reprehensible conduct to continue.”

Both Michigan Democrats filing the impeachment articles are currently facing hotly contested Democratic primaries for the upcoming 2026 elections, suggesting the moves may be politically motivated.
