Stephen A Smith To Democrats: Stop Lecturing And Start Winning

Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith clashed with The View host Whoopi Goldberg on Thursday, confirming that the Democratic Party lost power because it embraced far-left cultural politics. Smith has made headlines for years by pointing out the Democrats’ destructive missteps.

Goldberg, predictably, took umbrage at his contention that the Democrats were too focused on identity. She insisted, “It was important, I think, for Democrats to show that they stood with the LGBT community, that they stood with Black women and women in general.”

Goldberg claimed that once they “let women and poor people go, what do you have?” She defended their losing strategy, saying, “They did it the way they thought they could. It didn’t work for them, they got it.”

Smith rejected her defense, prioritizing strategy and winning over victimhood. He said, “See, respectfully, I don’t like that. Let me explain.”

The ESPN commentator confirmed that Democrats care about poor people but argued they use the wrong strategy to win. He asked, “But what I’m saying is, that during the campaign, were you doing what it takes to win?”

Smith advised Democrats to drop the identity issues if they ever want to beat the GOP. He said he would tell them to “focus on what’s gonna win,” adding, “That’s where my sports background comes in. Tell me what’s gonna win.”

He stressed that the constant focus on the LGBTQ community and the disenfranchised did not secure the election. Smith said, “The Democrats did not do that last time, and that’s what happened.”

Co-host Sunny Hostin finally asked Smith for the key to victory. Smith laid out the GOP’s winning platform in two words: “Affordability and safety. Period. Affordability and safety.”

He added that a “willingness to cross the aisle” is also necessary to end the current political chaos. Joy Behar scoffed at the suggestion, but Smith simply replied, “Really? I don’t know about that.”
