Comedian Jon Stewart is furious — not at Republicans, but at his own party.
During Monday night’s episode of The Daily Show, Stewart unloaded on Senate Democrats for ending the record-breaking government shutdown without getting a single thing they demanded.
“The episode tonight is brought to you by, ‘I can’t f—ing believe it!’” Stewart fumed. “And what, you ask, is ‘it’? It’s the Democrats.”
Stewart rolled clips of Democrats like Chuck Schumer vowing not to end the shutdown unless they got an extension of Obamacare’s COVID-era subsidies. Then he cut to Fox News reporting that they’d caved.
“Not even a full week removed from their best election night in years, seven Democrats and an ‘independent’ voted with Republicans to end the shutdown — and did they get their healthcare subsidies? No!” Stewart shouted.
ABC confirmed Republicans only agreed to a future vote on the issue. That’s when Stewart really lost it.
“I cannot f—ing believe it!” he ranted. “You had the wind at your back — election victories all over the country — and you sold out the entire shutdown not to get what you wanted, but for a promise to not get what you wanted later!”
He even mocked Democrats for abandoning their leverage, comparing them to a clueless general from The Art of War: “Never press your advantage — it’s unseemly! Fighting’s hard. How about a snack?”
The left-wing host then slammed Senate Democrats for not even understanding how government works. “What good does a promise of a Senate vote do for you?” Stewart asked. “You don’t control the Senate. Do you even know how this sh– works?”
Stewart’s meltdown comes after months of infighting among Democrats — and just days after left-wing outlets turned on Schumer for helping Republicans pass a bipartisan spending bill earlier this year.
Even the liberal comedians can’t hide it anymore: Democrats are out of ideas, out of leverage, and out of touch with reality.
