Trump Promises Payment of Tariff Dividends to Americans

President Donald Trump fired off a message Sunday that left no room for confusion — if you’re against tariffs, you’re a fool.

“People that are against tariffs are FOOLS!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “We are now the richest, most respected country in the world, with almost no inflation and a record stock market price. A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high-income people!) will be paid to everyone.”

It’s another signature Trump move — putting American workers first and making global trade finally work for the U.S. instead of against it.

According to the Treasury Department, total tariff revenue for fiscal year 2025 hit a record-breaking $215.2 billion. That money, Trump said, will go right back to Americans through his new “Liberty Dividend.”

Thanks to Trump’s America-First economic policies, factories are roaring back to life. Manufacturing plants are seeing “record investment,” he said. The president also vowed that the U.S. will soon begin “paying down our ENORMOUS DEBT,” now sitting above $38 trillion.

Since Trump launched his “Liberation Day” tariffs in April, revenue from duties has soared — from $23.9 billion in May to $29 billion by July. The total haul for fiscal 2025 reached $215 billion, and the new fiscal year is already off to a fast start with $35.9 billion collected in just one month.

Critics call Trump’s tariffs reckless. Supporters call them genius — a way to finally stop foreign countries from taking advantage of American workers.

But the battle isn’t over. The Supreme Court began hearing arguments last week on whether Trump has the legal authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose tariffs without Congress. A lower court claimed he went too far — but Trump’s team says he acted fully within his constitutional powers to protect American industry.

“The president has every right to defend this country’s economy,” said White House spokesperson Kush Desai. “We look forward to ultimate victory on this matter with the Supreme Court.”

Trump called the case “life or death for the United States,” making it clear that he won’t back down from putting America first — no matter who stands in the way.
